So, what went wrong? And how do you put it right?
So, what went wrong? And how do you put it right?
I have a sneaking suspicion that he has relatives a bit down the road from me so one night I e-mailed him with a question. The response I received was logical, nice, and cordial. I forgot to ask about the relatives so I sent a second e-mail about an hour, later. No reply. About a year later I sent the same question to him about his relatives, here, in the Midwest. Again………….no reply. Now, I guess I know why. He probably thought I was the Feds after him.
I’ll try to call the Orlandini’s around here this week and see if he is a relative. Small world……..for all I know, he may have grown up here.
And it is easy to understand that we’ve been taught different perspectives, so the American attitude towards guns is a challenge to your beliefs and your emotions. Perspective is what drives us all in our thinking and our actions, not to mention our hearts, no?
If you had ever interacted with an agent of authority and experienced it being abused, your perspective would change quite rapidly. If you had been raised with an understanding of and appreciation for the cost of freedom - the price others paid that we might be free - your perspective would indeed be quite different.
Because of the United States, and its actions to declare independence and become the first free nation on earth - free in terms of the great experiment in individual freedom and responsibility, the concept of self-government, and that we are indeed endowed with certain inalienable rights (for if we ascribe the source of those rights to anyone other than God, they can be withdrawn by whatever group of men is capable of seizing power) - because of what the people who made this country free accomplished, not many other nation states have had to “fight” for independence. Not too many have had to overthrow an oppressive distant government. The ones that have - like Poland, Hungary, and others who were finally able to expel a tyrannical government - have a much higher appreciation for what freedom means, how important it is, and the cost of such freedom. Unlike Canada, Australia, and many other commonwealth nations, they did not have to resort to violent revolution to achieve a “free” state. It was granted or accorded to them through peaceful process (I know I am speaking with what is likely too broad a brush, but the point methinks is nonetheless valid.)
The history of the United States and its understanding of the evils of government and the goodness of individual freedom traces back much earlier than the War Between the States (or the War of Northern Aggression, which is the more appropriate name.) It commenced with the experience of freedom and self-government of the people, by the people, for the people from the time of the Mayflower Compact. As the colonies came to be established, an armed citizenry was essential for survival - both to hunt game, and for self protection (protection by government was a somewhat distant thought for a long time). This tradition was deeply rooted in the psyche of the populace in general. Their weapons were critical to maintaining their respective life and the freedom that went with it.
The other aspect is that the population of the colonies was quite literate, and those people in leadership in terms of creating wealth and building the economy were very steeped in history. They understood the concept of freedom and that the history of mankind was one of endless government oppression and tyranny. This tyranny was possible because the government - or the dictator, if you will; either at the local or national level - controlled the weapons. In fact, they had ALL the weapons, so the general populace was essentially powerless. The only moves towards any kind of freedoms for the common man only came about by a powerful few joining together to rend more freedom for themselves from the central power holder. This is the long, sad history of man - who, by the way, was indeed created to be free. (If you think this all could have been brought about by a bunch of atheists thinking it to be so, and then willing to die for the concept, well, you are sorely mistaken.)
The only reason that the colonies were able to win their independence from Great Britain was because they were armed to the teeth. And the ones who fought to bring about that freedom were totally committed in their hearts and souls to the righteousness of their cause. If you think otherwise, you ought to read sometime the price the signers of the Declaration of Independence paid for signing that document. And the commitment they made amongst themselves and to their fellow Americans. You cannot find such men today. We have become gutless wonders, comparatively speaking.
Okay, so the Americans had a deep distrust of government and especially a strong central government because they knew and understood history. They also knew and believed in the validity of the freedom of the individual and the concept of self-government. That is why the constitution and the Bill of Rights are written the way they are - it is all designed to keep government on a tight leash and keep it small while maximizing the freedom of the individual. The sorry story that follows their sacrifice is the slow frittering away of all that they fought and died so valiantly for.
They knew, regardless of the situation, that without a well-armed populace that is grounded in history and the concepts of personal freedom and limited government, ALL governments will eventually enslave their people. And the people, without the necessary historical perspective and appreciation for the principles of personal freedom and limited government, would gladly trade away their freedom for the “security” of a government that tells them how to live, and the price to live. So we have throughout the civilized world the phenomenon of confiscatory taxes, mind and thought control through government schools, the PC movement, and the cradle-to-grave reliance on government as the solution to all things.
There are not too few in the U.S. who know and understand these ideas of tyranny, freedom, and all that goes with it. And that freedom always comes down to be wiling to die to protect it from that great agency of tyranny, government. It is indeed a necessary evil - and one that requires brute force to keep it in check. Otherwise, it will use brute force to take away your freedom. Maybe not in your lifetime, but certainly within a lifetime on either side. All governments govern by force - the battle is to restrict the force that the government is capable of bringing to bear. Such force only understands brute force back - hence the value of a well-armed populace. Unfortunately, such concepts and principles have been eliminated from our schools - after all, they are run by the government, and they surely don’t want such ideas taught to a populace that they want to be sheep-like and dependent.
The surest protection from a government becoming overtly tyrannical is through an armed population. Let me give you two examples of the key points.
The U.S. has an agency called the IRS (Internal Revenue Service). It actually provides no service at all - it is an extortion racket in the extreme. It relies on the threat of brute force to bring about compliance. If you don’t pay, you go to jail. If you don’t pay what they say, right or wrong, you go to jail. They can and do seize all that you have without due process. It is the ultimate arm of terror acting on behalf of a government hell-bent on wiping out what few freedoms we have left. We have no recourse with this illegal entity. It exists solely for the purpose of plundering the American citizen of the fruits of his and her labor. (Lest you scream in protest that we have to pay taxes to pay for the government, let me remind you that from 1776 until 1920 the U.S.A got along just fine without any income tax or the IRS. All the while building the strongest, most productive, wealthiest and freest nation on earth. There are other ways of generating revenue for government operations besides screwing a man or a woman out of their earnings. It’s just that the other methods work to keep government small - too bad, eh?)
Here is a second example. In WW II, as Hitler ravaged the majority of the Western world and came perilously close to wiping freedom from the face of the earth, one small nation in Europe was never invaded nor threatened with invasion. That little country was Switzerland. The Swiss, mind you, have been around for several centuries. The first year I lived there in 1991 they celebrated their 700th anniversary as a nation. They became a nation through a long series of bloody battles - they, too, paid a steep price for freedom. So how could this tiny nation withstand (or avoid) the German blitzkrieg? All men in Switzerland are armed. They all serve 2 years in the national army. They all keep a rifle and ammunition in their homes. They still have airfields in the valleys and mountain tunnels with munitions and rations hidden behind thick steel doors. Even Hitler knew invading that country would result in an endless bloodbath for his troops. The Swiss are crack shots; they spend (I think) two weeks a year training even today. At least they did when I lived there not too long ago.
Anyway, a good example of an armed citizenry keeping a foreign invader from the door. Unfortunately, the invasions we are dealing with today are internal. We are being done if from internal storm troopers who have been elected to office by an ignorant populace, which is hell-bent on electing fellow ignoramuses to office. There is likely to come a time when the people will have to make decision for armed resistance/revolution, or to acquiesce to an fully-dictatorial form of government.
This is the way things are heading around the world. It is engineered. It is intentional. It is being done with brute force on multiple levels. I do not know what it will take to change your perspective, or even if that is possible until it is too late. But the force of government is not a tsunami wave - it steals in the middle of the night, under cover, unsuspected. You wake up and listen to the implementation of emergency currency exchange controls, restricted travel, property seizures, bank accounts and retirement funds looted - all in the name of protecting your “freedom” under the guise of fear. And we all go along, thinking two thoughts: one, it is temporary; and two, it is for my own good.
Except for those few brave souls with weapons who can fight. And likely will.
What is freedom worth? From what I read, history says it is worth life itself. Otherwise, it is to relinquish what others have done for us in exchange for the worst kind of slavery - that brought on ourselves.
A brief positive ending. When the U.S. declared independence upon the signatures of 56 men, it is believed that those 56 men represented perhaps 5,000 men throughout the colonies. That is, like-minded men willing to pledge their honor, their fortunes and their lives to the cause. The army that Washington led was smaller than 25,000 - so I am being conservative here. At the time of independence, there were about 2 million folks living in the U.S.A. To mount a similar ratio of freedom loving men to the general population today, we would need a mere 8,400 men to sign such a declaration. Then we would need an armed citizenry of roughly 3,750,000. I think we have that many, based on gun ownership numbers thrown around on the Tent the last day or so. So maybe there is hope - but it would still require that those 8,400 make a declaration, and that 3,000,000+ gun owners would be willing to fight to the death to regain our freedoms. (All calculations are based on the simple math of 2 million population in 1776 to 300 million today is a 150 X increase. So I’ve multiplied the original 56 signers by 150 to get 8,400 and multiplied the Continental Army size by 150 as well. We can debate numbers all we want, but the ratios are close enough for me.)
When I first became interested in the precious metals and mining stock sector back in late 2001, I followed Jim Dines’ subscription newsletter as part of my education process. Back then he based his call for a bull market of unprecedented proportions in gold, silver and mining stocks based on
There would be a global race by countries to devalue their fiat currencies
Central Banks would shift from being net sellers to net buyers of gold
Mining stocks would embark on a bull market move that would make the internet stock bubble look tame
Well, now two out of three of Dines’ prophecies have occurred. It’s only a matter of time until the third one is realized.

Federal Reserve to make public its details
I found this story interesting as it crossed the wires this evening. It is an important first step in my view to have the FED be more accountable to taxpayers.

Fed Must Make Public Reports on Emergency Loans, U.S. Judge Says
Aug. 24 (Bloomberg) — The Federal Reserve must make public reports about recipients of emergency loans from U.S. taxpayers under programs created to address the financial crisis, a federal judge ruled.
The American people deserve to know exactly how this institution has controlled the money supply and exactly where all their printed money has gone. It’s a a significant first step. Here’s the FED’s position in a nutshell:
“The Fed has refused to name the borrowers, the amounts of loans or the assets put up as collateral under 11 programs, saying that doing so might set off a run by depositors and unsettle shareholders.”
This decision was in response to an action brought forward by Bloomberg. As Bloomberg noted:
“When an unprecedented amount of taxpayer dollars were lent to financial institutions in unprecedented ways and the Federal Reserve refused to make public any of the details of its extraordinary lending, Bloomberg News asked the court why U.S. citizens don’t have the right to know,” said Matthew Winkler, the editor-in-chief of Bloomberg News. “We’re gratified the court is defending the public’s right to know what is being done in the public interest.”
This is a good start. It’s time the public knew exactly who benefited from these bailouts and loans and to what extent and who cares if the public knows who got the money. As taxpayers, full disclosure is not only responsible, but it’s expected.
Sincerely,
Fulvio

Today at work a Hot Pink notice appeared on the bulletin board. The company is offering FREE flu shots clinic next month… if we sign up in advance. Company has to pay in advance for the shots, so they only buy half the number of employees we have to avoid leftovers. Real sweet. I think I will be one of the ‘unfortunates’ that didn’t sign up in time.
First come, first serve! No pushing and shoving, now!

Startling New Evidence That The ‘Swine
Flu’ Pandemic Is Man-Made
Novartis Patent Detailed And Mass Murder Charged
By A. True Ott, PhD, ND
7-26-9
Murder suspects are either convicted or acquitted at trial based on the prosecution’s presentation of EVIDENCE which usually hinges on MOTIVE, OPPORTUNITY, and TIME-LINES combined with physical documents. To gather such hard evidence, detectives and/or federal agents often spend months following leads and interviewing witnesses. In the trial phase, re-creating the sequence of events is essential. I submit this paper will provide more than enough hard evidence to at least result in a series of criminal indictments of charges of MASS MURDER, and CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT WORLD GENOCIDE against Novartis Pharmaceutical principals and agents and others.
PRIMARY MOTIVE
The Primary Motive behind this alleged criminal activity is also the primary cause of most murders in the world today, and that motivation is simply: BIG MONEY. Billions of Dollars of windfall profits from government contracts worldwide, as a matter of fact.
I will provide evidence that will show that Novartis Pharmaceuticals of Basel, Switzerland has conspired with corrupt “scientists” at the U.S. Army Institute of Pathology Ft. Detrick, Maryland, to create a “novel” strain of weaponized “influenza” virus by means of “reverse engineering” the deadly 1918 killer strain which strain was maliciously and surreptitiously released upon the world in March and April of 2009 for the primary purpose of creating a panic-stricken world-wide demand for Novartis vaccine material.
The evidence will also clearly show that the Novartis vaccine material is in reality designed to facilitate the further mutation of the pandemic into more lethal waves of increasingly virulent and deadly disease, rather than to curtail and limit the existing outbreak. The evidence will show that Novartis is willingly being used, (and extremely well-paid) to facilitate the edicts of the global elite’s Club of Rome; which edicts clearly call for a massive and sudden depopulation of certain segments of the earth’s human population.
PRIMARY EVIDENCE
To realize such windfall profits on an engineered, global flu pandemic, detailed covert planning must take place of course.
Patents protecting the proprietary flu vaccine must be applied for and secured before the pandemic virus is released in order to minimize the competition and maximize the profit potentials. In a biological attack of this nature, timing is extremely critical.
Indeed, the evidence is clear Novartis applied for just such a patent on Nov. 4, 2005, and the U.S. Patent Office accepted this application and granted US 20090047353A1 for a “Split Influenza Vaccine with Adjuvants” on February 19, 2009. (See bottom of page).
…
I did enjoy reading the summary. I noticed that there were a couple of direct quotes from two of your past presidents. I have also seen Thomas Jefferson quoted a lot on this forum at other times. He certainly was a wise man and had a deep understanding of the way economies work and how power corrupts.
I think I now have a better understanding of why so many Americans hold so strongly to their belief in the right to bear arms. It seems to come from way back, from the time of the American Civil War. It it appears also to come from a deep distrust of government. In addition, things are happening now that are making all of us afraid.
These ideas, as I have said several times before, are in complete contrast to the ones that I have been brought up with. To me, and to most of the people I have met, it is only with the utmost reluctance that we would take up arms. This is not because of weakness, but because of a difference in perception.

Now I read that Starbucks is going to increase prices also. Deflation sucks.
Budweiser, Coors/Miller beers announce they are hiking prices this fall.
Unlike yourself, I caught absolutely nothing, in Orlandini’s charts nor with his comments, to indicate that he was a Con Man. Here was a guy that is actively wanted in connection with a $125 Million Con (Cyprus Fund) and then he poses as a Gold Bug Analyst and lures people in once again.
He seemed very knowledgable ,but intelligence is not the same as Honesty …..I did detect in one of his later posts a effort to straddle the fence on the Gold issue ,but I dismissed it as a Jouirnalist trying to have it both ways ………Sometimes a little change of character can be very indicative of much bigger hidden problems…..

Hulbert: Gold timers have grown increasingly cautious — a good sign

Being contrary about gold
Commentary: Gold timers have grown increasingly cautious — a good sign
By Mark Hulbert, MarketWatch
ANNANDALE, Va. (MarketWatch) — If bull markets like to climb a wall of worry, then get ready for higher gold prices in the days and weeks ahead.
That’s because gold timers in recent weeks have become increasingly skeptical about gold’s near-term prospects.
Consider the average recommended gold market exposure that exists among gold timing newsletters tracked by the Hulbert Financial Digest. As of Monday night, this average stood at just 3.8% — which means that the typical gold timing newsletter right now has virtually no exposure to the gold market whatsoever.
To put that in context, consider the sentiment picture from three months ago, in late May, when bullion was trading at more or less the same price as it is today. At that time, the average recommended gold market exposure was 50.2% — or more than 46 percentage points higher than where it is currently.
That relatively higher exposure level three months ago turned out to be too high, just as contrarians would have expected, and gold soon thereafter entered into a correction that lasted until early July. (Read my June 3 column in Barrons.com.)
Fortunately for gold, however, the gold timers quickly beat a path to the exits during that correction, leading contrarians to conclude that the correction was not the beginning of a major bear market for gold — and that the path of least resistance for gold over the near term now pointed upward. ( Read my June 19 column.)
In the wake of that rally since early July, however, gold timers have surprisingly not jumped back on the bullish bandwagon. In fact, the last time they were as discouraged by gold’s prospects as they are now, gold bullion was trading below $910 per ounce — about 4% where it was trading Monday evening.
These positive developments on the sentiment front have been in particular display over the last week or so. Even after taking its drop during Monday’s trading session into account, for example, gold bullion is today still more than $10 an ounce higher than where it was a little more than one week ago. And, yet, in the wake of that increase, the average recommended gold market exposure among gold timing newsletters has dropped by more than 28 percentage points.
That would be a big drop in sentiment over any six-trading-day period, much less one in which gold actually produced a net gain.
The bottom line? There are no guarantees, of course. And, even if contrarians turn out to be right, their forecast is a short-term one only.
But, at least for the next couple of weeks, it would appear that the sentiment winds will be blowing in the gold bulls’ sails.
I’ll be watching to see if there is the correlation. Sure hope something that glitters goes north soon.
